Şeyh Bedrettin Mosque (Şeyh Mosque)

An early Ottoman-period mosque commissioned by the renowned scholar Şeyh Bedrettin in 1565. May remain closed for extended periods due to restoration work by the Waqfs Authority.

Built in 1565 by the era's prominent scholar Şeyh Bedrettin, this mosque is a modest yet carefully executed example of early Ottoman architectural tradition. Its minaret was added later, in the early 19th century.

The mosque has undergone two major restorations: the first in 1831 by Ümmü Gülsüm Hatun, wife of Menteşe Governor Tavaslı Osman Ağa, and the second in 1896 by Şerif Efendi. Osman Ağa also bestowed substantial endowments upon the mosque—creating the economic foundation that sustained the building for centuries.

Following its most recent renovation in 2007, its exterior appearance changed considerably; yet the original inscription plaque to the right of the entrance door remains in place—the sole tangible witness to the building's original form.
