Built in 1493, Yağcılar Hanı was constructed in the very same year as Kurşunlu Mosque. As its name suggests, this was once the heart of the city's oil trade district during the 14th and 15th centuries; the pulse of commerce beat in this courtyard.\n\nConstructed with solid stone walls on a Baghdad-style wooden frame system, this building has stood for 530 years. When you step inside today, you'll find a small café nestled in the shade of the magnificent plane tree at the center of the courtyard. The surrounding shops sell carpets, kilims, handcrafted souvenirs, and local products.\n\nThis is one of the rare Beylik-era structures in Anatolia that continues to live on with its original function — as a place of trade and social gathering. Five centuries ago, oil merchants bought and sold their wares here; today, carpet vendors have taken their place. Yet the spirit of the space remains unchanged.
