MÖ 4. yüzyılın ilk yarısında, Kral Mausolos döneminde kurulduğu düşünülür. Tepenin doğu ucundaki surla çevrili kale kalıntılarının duvarları 2-3 metre kalınlıkta olup düzenli aralıklarla kulelerle desteklenmiştir; içeride stadyuma benzer yapı izleri, ev temelleri, kuyu ve sarnıç kalıntıları bulunur. Zirve; Gökova Körfezi, Bodrum Yarımadası ve Güvercinlik Körfezi'ne hakim bir manzara sunar.
