You are now approaching one of the most special and least-known places on the Bodrum Peninsula: Sandima Village.
This old stone village above Yalıkavak was once a settlement area for the Greek population that lived in the region. Following the population exchange that took place in the early 20th century, the village was gradually abandoned and fell into the silence we see today.
What makes Sandima special is that time seems to have nearly stood still here. Stone houses, narrow streets, and architectural fabric woven into nature still carry the traces of the past. Many structures have been left as they are without restoration; this is what preserves the village's authentic character.
Thanks to its elevated location, from Sandima you can observe Yalıkavak and its surroundings from a bird's eye view. This vista clearly shows why those who lived here once chose this spot: both for defense and dominion.
This place is different from crowded tourist areas… Quiet, simple, and carrying a profound story.
Now look around you… Stone walls, empty houses, and the sound of nature…
Sandima is not a forgotten memory of Bodrum, but a hidden one.
