Eski Karakaya, Peksimet Dağı eteklerinde, denizden yaklaşık 350 metre yükseklikte kurulu tarihi bir taş köydür. Kaynaklar köyün yüzyıllar geriye uzanan geçmişinden söz eder; yüksek ve kayalık konumunun, Osmanlı döneminde korsan baskınlarından korunmak için seçildiği aktarılır. İki-üç katlı taş evlerin bir bölümü restore edilmiş, bir bölümü yıkık haldedir; köyde yaklaşık 300 yıllık bir mescit de bulunur. Ege Denizi, Yunan adaları ve Gümüşlük manzaralıdır.
